Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first female to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. The label debuted her first EP, Pho, in October 2016 where she started to get recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released on May 19, 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading music online in the year 2012 after she dropped her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. The year 2014 saw her release additional music on the internet including Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes and in Sweat It Out July 21st the 21st of July, 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time was interested in having her perform on Rihanna and Rihanna-related songs. The official signing ceremony was held to Dreamville Records on 8 December. On the record Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the song Backseat along with Cozz. In October 21st, 2016 her debut EP was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change, and she performed on The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening artist. In 2018, Ari Lennox appeared on two tracks by EarthGang On Nothing but the Best, and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video for it was released on September 5th. She released her second single, Grampa on November 9. On November 13 she then released two more singles called The No One as well as Pedigree. She then appeared as a guest on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16th. She released the single in February, 2019 for her debut album the same name. This track, which was released with a video on YouTube 20 February 2019 has been watched over three million times over the first seven days. As a support act she performed in concert with 6LACK in December 2018 on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
